Why aren’t Adept courses accredited by the BACP or NCPS?

Short answer: you don’t need us to be.

CPCAB qualifications are regulated by Ofqual — the same government body that oversees all UK qualifications — and are widely recognised across the counselling sector. Once you complete your Level 4 Diploma, you can apply to join BACP, NCPS, or any other professional body that recognises CPCAB qualifications. The route into professional registration is fully open to you.

So why haven’t we applied for BACP or NCPS course accreditation? Because we believe that’s your decision to make, not ours.

There are around 20 professional membership bodies available to qualified counsellors in the UK. Each has its own ethical framework, culture, and focus. If Adept Central sought accreditation from one specific body, we’d effectively be nudging you toward that organisation before you’ve had the chance to explore what’s right for you.

We’d rather give you the knowledge and the freedom to choose the professional home that genuinely fits your values and practice — not the one we’ve pre-selected.

What actually matters is the quality of training you receive and the nationally recognised qualification you leave with. That’s what we focus on — and it’s why CPCAB awarded us Centre of Excellence status.
